Today Ingrid Betancourt announced her candidacy for the presidency of Colombia. Noted here for devoted readers. Betancourt, a former Colombian senator, was held captive by FARC for six years and wrote a vivid memoir in 2010 titled Even Silence Has an End. The first round of the Colombian presidential elections is May 29th.
